Flesh Flowers

Photographic vinyl stickers

An exhibition called "Transitory" 2017 "Flesh Flowers" focuses on the colour of the roses and how the audience could associate these with different subjects such as emotions and objects. Through the audience associating, they feel invited to look at the naked bodies closer and the nakedness won't be sexualized from the first look.

The choice of material works with this idea as I could put the flowers in bunches like bouquets and flower beds. The photography in the college is showing the uneasiness in gender dysphoria, how it feels as if your mind and body are separate, and yet the masculinities and femininities are still produced upon us. I wanted the contrast between this violence and the softness of the flowers so the work isn't dominating and controlling the viewer.
